Akron Coventry High Schools 1st State Champion 1973
Attended University of Arizona, scholarship athlete, four year starter, Pac-10 runner-up, nationally ranked and NCAA national qualifier. Nominated for Senior Athlete of the Year at the University of Arizona.
1st coaching job- Grad assistant coach University of Arizona.
Coventry volunteer assistant coach- State Champions.
Medina Highland Head Coach 2 years- dual record 24-3, coached 5 state placers and 1 State Champion. 1982-84.

Massillon Perry 1986 to 2015
Ryan Riggs is the head wrestling coach at the University of Mount Union. Throughout his college coaching career, he coached an NCAA National Champion, three National Finalists, nine All Americans, tHIRTY Academic All Americans, twenty-five National Qualifiers, seven NCAA regional champions, and forty-six regional place winners. Riggs also coaches the USA-Ohio Fargo National Team since 2007-present, coaching several National Champions and All Americans.
Riggs attended Massillon Perry High School and was a double All-American at the Fargo National Championships. He was a two-time Ironman Tournament place winner (4th, 4th) Beast of the East Tournament finalist (2nd), and a 3x ohsaa state qualifier. Massillon Perry achieved its first top-10 national ranking while he was in high school. The 2003 wrestling team was inducted into the Massillon Perry Hall of Fame, his senior season. He was ranked 23rd nationally by USA Wrestling and Amateur Wrestling News before continuing his career at Cleveland State University as a scholarship wrestler under coach Jack Effner. He placed 5th at the Eastern Wrestling League and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the EWL.
